Client answers

Approvals

Ask the client to decide photo by photo — accept, ask for changes or reject — and to sign the answer.

How it works

  • Library → Approvals → “Add approval gallery” → name it and upload the photos.
  • Publish it and send a link. A link to the whole library includes approval galleries by itself.
  • The client decides every photo and signs. While answers are open they can only decide — no downloads, hearts or comments.
  • Answers come link by link; each link's latest answer counts. You see them on the gallery's Approvals tab and on the photos.
  • “Lock answers” makes them final: for the client the gallery becomes an ordinary one, without the rejected photos. “Reopen” lets them answer again.

Good to know

  • “Changes” is not a rejection — the photo stays.
  • A photo counts as rejected when at least one link's latest answer rejects it.
  • With the Lightroom plug-in you can bring the verdicts back into your catalogue.
  • “Reset all answers” on the Approvals tab — or “Reset” on one person's answer — deletes the signed answers for good, history included. The gallery shows as unanswered again.
  • Approvals are part of the Pro plan and above.
Questions
Approvals or Selects?

Approvals: the client judges every photo — for sign-offs, e.g. photos for publication. Selects: the client picks up to N favourites — for choosing what you will edit.

I re-edited the photos. How do I ask again?

On the gallery's Approvals tab press “Reset all answers” (or “Reset” on one person's answer), tick that you understand and confirm. The answers and their history are deleted — this cannot be undone — and the client can answer anew. If the answers are locked, turn off “Lock answers” too. It does not count as a new question in your plan, and verdicts already pulled into Lightroom stay in your catalogue.
